About Lauren M. Clarke:
I was born and raised in a rural area and through this experience, I gained an unique perspective from living in a small town as a Deaf individual and a bi-racial. During my childhood, I resented my deafness and bi-racial status because I felt they made me different and attracted negative attention as seen through a child’s eye, desperate for acceptance. Fortunately, through adult eyes and amazing interaction with people, I have come to embrace both identities as my own and something that makes me unique and sets me apart from others.
“What you resist will cause only more resistance whereas embracing yourself shall bring more peace.” – L.M. Clarke
Through all of my experiences, I have constantly questioned what our places are in this world and our connection to each other regardless of our stature or limitations. I love to write about challenges and how the mind and soul prevails over obstacles no matter how difficult.
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
